Hydroxyethyl cellulose shorten as HEC is an important non-ionic hydroxyalkyl cellulose which was successfully prepared by Hubert in 1920, and also a high-yield water-soluble cellulose ether worldwide, only second to CMC (carboxymethylcellulose sodium) and HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) in development. HEC is significantly featured by the good solubility both in cold and hot water, and gel-free property.
